Davenport was tabbed to finish fifth in the GLIAC coaches' poll under third-year head coach Joe White.

About the Lakers

No. 3 nationally-ranked Grand Valley State has played to a 4-1 overall record and recorded a 2-0 win at Saginaw Valley State on Friday for a 1-0 GLIAC ledger.

The Lakers' offense is as advertised, leading the league in corner kicks per game (6.2) and shots per game (15.8). Sophomore Sarah Fromm has scored two game-winning goals and leads GVSU with three goals through five games. Junior Alli French has scored two goals, while freshman Cora Conely has three assists, two in the last two games.

Defensively, the Lakers are holding the opposition to 5.6 shots and 3.2 corner kicks per game. First-year goalkeeper Macie Hunter has played the last game and a half for GVSU, playing to a 2-0 record with one save on four shots faced.

Katelyn Lognino was named the sixth head coach in program history, entering her first year at the helm as the Lakers were predicted to win the GLIAC.

About the Huskies

After struggling to find its footing in the non-conference slate, Michigan Tech earned a 1-1 draw at Parkside on Friday before recording its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Roosevelt on Sunday. The Huskies are now 1-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the loop.

Coach Kuhar found success using two goalkeepers per game, with Bri Barrows playing the first half of the opening weekend of GLIAC competition before Ludesha Reynolds closed out the second half. Reynolds combined for eight saves as Barrows recorded five saves en route to the 1-0-1 GLIAC start.

Freshman Peyton Wetzel stands alone as the Huskies' top goal scorer with three goals in the last four games and one goal respectively against GLIAC foes. She ranks third in the league in goals (3) and points (6).

In the win at Roosevelt, two Huskies earned their first career goals with a penalty kick goal by Allison Millina, who also recorded her first career assist on Friday, and Kenzie Dollison.
