HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team fell 2-0 to Minnesota Duluth on Friday in the home and season-opener at Kearly Stadium. The Bulldogs scored a goal in each half.
"The first half was not Michigan Tech soccer and the style we want to play this season," Tech coach
Melissa Kuhar said. "We went at them in the second half, and we need to make sure that we play the full 90 minutes."
Bri Barrows kept the Huskies in the game in the first half, making three big saves.
The Bulldogs broke through with 1:24 left in the opening frame when Lauren Mcgough scored from the center of the box after a corner kick by Kailey Tomzak.
Tech found some offense in the second half, generating four shots, but the visitors extended their lead at 71:09 when Amelia Castleberg scored after the initial shot was blocked.
The Huskies wrap up the weekend on Sunday at noon against St. Cloud State. SCSU fell 3-2 at Northern Michigan on Friday.
