HOUGHTON, Mich. – After completing the first half of GLIAC play, the Michigan Tech soccer team is set to begin a four-game road stretch this weekend, traveling to Davenport Friday (5:00 p.m.) and Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (2:00 p.m.).

The Series
The Huskies dropped contests to both the Panthers and the Cardinals in the first matchup of the season, although Michigan Tech holds a 6-4-3 series lead against Davenport and a 12-10-2 advantage versus Saginaw Valley State.

About the Panthers
Davenport sits at 1-7-3 overall and 1-5-1 halfway through the GLIAC slate, residing ninth in the standings. The Panthers most recently recorded a 1-1 tie vs Ferris State on Sunday. Prior to the tie, DU went 1-4 in their last five games, with the lone win coming against the Huskies.
Sophomore midfielder Ella Chatfield and freshman forward Sofia Capoccia led the team offensively with two goals apiece. Chafield, Megan Malek and Josie Wilcox are the team's top facilitators with two assists, respectively.
The Panthers produce 9.91 shots, 4.45 corner kicks and 4.36 saves per game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Wolter has played the last three games, making five starts for Davenport with a record of 1-3-1, a 1.81 goals against average and a .750 save percentage, while facing 84 shots.
About the Cardinals
Saginaw Valley State owns a 6-3-2 overall standing with an in-league ledger of 4-2-1, earning the Cardinals the third spot in the GLIAC. SVSU most recently completed a weekend sweep with wins at Purdue Northwest (3-1) Friday and 4-1 at home on Sunday.
The Cardinals have scored 25 goals (2.27 goals per game) with senior midfielder Madi Bajis leading the team and league with six goals adding three assists. 10 total players have scored goals this season, with Emily Kolodin (four goals), Emma Bradley (three goals) and Lauryn Fracassi (three goals) adding to the depth of scoring potential. Saginaw Valley State has scored in the run of play often, with 11 players accounting for one or more assists, led by Kolodin with a league-leading five assists, which ranks 17th nationally.
Goalkeeper Lainey Garbarz has recorded 51 total saves this season, ranking second in the league with a 1.47 goals against average and a .758 save percentage.
As a team, the Cardinals produce 5.17 corner kicks and 6.42 shots on goal per game while leading the league in goals (26), assists (21) and total points (73).
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech concluded the first half of league play on a high note with a 1-0 decision at Northern Michigan, with senior defender Olivia Gette earning her first career goal as senior goalkeeper Bri Barrows accomplished her first shutout of the season and earned the nod for GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Oxford, Michigan, native made five stops after seeing a season-high 23 shots.
The Huskies now reside sixth in the league standings with an overall record of 2-8-1 and a GLIAC record of 2-4-1.
The Black & Gold post 7.55 shots, 2.82 corner kicks and a league-leading 7.36 saves per game.
Barrows holds a .792 save percentage ranking third in the GLIAC with her 5.70 saves per game ranking second in the league. For the season, she has recorded 57 saves, ranking first in the GLIAC and 22nd in the country.
Freshman Peyton Wetzel leads the way with eight points, three goals and two assists. Junior Reilly Lovercheck recorded two goals in two games as Allison Millina, Kenzie Dollison and Bella Vasoli have also accounted for a goal this season.Â
