HOCKEY
The Huskies split the final home series of 2024. Tech defeated St. Thomas 2-1 on Friday and fell 4-1 Saturday. Owen Baker, Rylan Brown, and Logan Morrell scored the goals. The Huskies are 8-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the CCHA and travel to Bemidji State this weekend. The puck drops at 8:07 p.m. Eastern on Friday and 7:07 p.m. on Saturday at the Sanford Center.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech swept its home weekend to begin GLIAC play. The Huskies overwhelmed Parkside 80-54 on Thursday and Purdue Northwest 92-59 on Saturday. Marcus Tomashek (13.5), Dawson Nordgaard (13), Pete Calcaterra (12), and Ty Fernholz (12) all averaged double figures in the two games. Tech is 6-3 and hosts Northland College on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the SDC Gym.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies split their GLIAC-opening weekend at the SDC Gym. The Huskies fell 79-75 in overtime to Parkside on Thursday and bounced back with a 74-63 victory over Purdue Northwest on Saturday. Isabella Lenz (21) and Janie Tormanen (17) led the team in scoring. Tech is 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC and gets back to action after the New Year.
 
NORDIC SKIING
The Nordic ski teams began the 2024-25 season at the Swedetown Season Opener on Saturday. The Huskies raced against Northern Michigan and St. Scholastica and came on top in the team standings in the female, male, and overall categories. Colin Freed won the men's race in 17:58.2 with Wes Campbell placing second 10 seconds back. Marie Sølverud Wangen placed second in the women's race in 20:43.7. Julia Junkkala was three seconds back in third. Tech gets back to action this weekend at the Gitchi Gami Games SuperTour. The Huskies will race a classic sprint on Saturday and a skate on Sunday.
