HOCKEY
Michigan Tech defeated Northern Michigan 4-3 Saturday in exhibition play at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Elias Jansson scored twice, while Owen Baker and Nick Williams also found the back of the net. The Huskies begin the regular season this weekend hosting the Alaska Nanooks. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday. The Blue Line Club is hosting its first luncheon of the season on Friday at 11:45 a.m. in the 'old' Blue Line Room outside of University Images. Tickets need to be purchased by noon on Wednesday (Oct. 9) to guarantee lunch.
 
FOOTBALL
Tech won its fourth straight game and opened GLIAC play with a 22-7 victory over Wayne State on Homecoming at Kearly Stadium. Darius Willis had a pair of touchdown receptions, while Alex Fries scored a rushing touchdown and Josh Cribben got points on a safety. Hunter Buechel and Dante Basanese led the defense with eight tackles each. The Huskies host Davenport for a noon kickoff on Saturday.
 
VOLLEYBALL
Tech swept its home weekend, defeating Lake Superior State 3-0 Friday and Saginaw Valley State 3-2 on Saturday. Meg Raabe led the offense (4.25 k/s), Tess Hayes set the attack (11.63 a/s) and also led the defense (3.88 d/s). Tech is 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the GLIAC and travels to Northern Michigan on Thursday and then returns home to host Roosevelt on Saturday. FOX-UP will televise Thursday's match in Marquette.
 
SOCCER
The Huskies dropped a pair of GLIAC homes games over the weekend, falling 1-0 to Saginaw Valley State on Friday and 2-0 to Ferris State on Sunday. Tech is 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the GLIAC and hosts rival Northern Michigan on Friday at 4 p.m. at Kearly Stadium. FOX-UP will televise the game.
 
CROSS COUNTRY

The Black and Gold get back to action on Saturday at the ninth annual Lewis Crossover at the Lewis XC Course in Romeoville, Illinois.
