HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team opens the second meeting of GLIAC foes on the road, traveling to Davenport on Friday at 2 p.m. and Ferris State Sunday at 1 p.m.

About the Panthers
Davenport enters the halfway point of the GLIAC season with an overall record of 4-3-4 and 2-2-3 in the league. The Panthers have had a productive October, starting with a 1-0 win over then-no. 2 ranked Grand Valley State on Oct. 6. Last weekend, Davenport played to a 1-1 draw with Saginaw Valley State on Friday before concluding the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Roosevelt Sunday.
Senior forward Haley Diekevers earned her second GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolade following the undefeated record in week six. She scored two of the Panthers' three goals with a .750 shot-on-goal clip against Roosevelt, moving her all-time career goals to 24.Â
As a team, the Panthers average 13.1 shots per game, 1.09 goals per game and have scored 12 goals this season.
First-year goalkeeper Elizabeth Wolter has impressed in her first year as a Panther, holding a record of 4-3-4 with four shutouts, making 40 saves. She was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week five.Â
About the Bulldogs
Ferris State has won two in a row with an overall record of 5-2-3 while playing to a 4-1-1 record in the GLIAC, holding the third spot in the conference standings. The Bulldogs are 2-1 in October, falling to Northern Michigan (3-0) on Oct. 4, before stringing together wins at Michigan Tech (2-0) Oct. 6 and Purdue Northwest (2-1) on Sunday (Oct. 13).Â
Junior forward Haley Buckman paces the Bulldogs offense with a team-leading four goals as sophomore forward Katherine Welch has three goals. Welch has scored two game-winners and joins senior Brinley Bell with a team-leading four assists this season.Â
As a team, Ferris State is second in the league points per game (4) and total points (40).Â
Defensively, first-year goalkeeper Morgan Fillion has made six starts, appearing in seven games for the Bulldogs. She has recorded 25 saves, averaging 1.2 goals against per outing with an overall record of 4-1-1 with two shutouts.Â
About the Huskies
Halfway through league play, Michigan Tech holds a ledger of 4-6 overall and 2-5 in league play. The Huskies have sputtered in October and look to turn around a three-game losing streak, most recently falling to U.P. rival Northern Michigan 2-0 on Friday (Oct. 11).
Michigan Tech is second in the league with 5.9 corner kicks per game, which ranks 42nd nationally. Senior forward Julia Pietila leads the team with 13 points, a team-leading six goals and one assist. Pietila has also netted a team-leading two game-winners as Kiersen Korienek, Grace Hoeppner and Taylor Noble have recorded two assists this season.
MTU's goalkeeper Bri Barrows has made nine starts this season, holding a record of 4-5, making 33 saves on 70 shots faced. She's combined for three shutouts in her first season as the starter.Â
One Last Thing
The Huskies look to complete the series sweep of Davenport, winning the first meeting 2-1 on Sept. 20.Â
