#11 Warriors overpower Huskies 7-0

DETROIT - Dominating singles play on their home court, No. 11 ranked Wayne State overpowered Michigan Tech 7-0 in men's tennis Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The loss extended the Huskies' losing streak this season to eight games.

"We lacked energy today, which made it more difficult against a thought team in Wayne State," said head coach Kristin Yep. "We look forward to playing at home next week."

Eli Pinnoo and Vitor Jordao nearly found traction at No. 2 doubles, falling 6-4 to Niklas Karcz and Ben Lakeman but that was as close Tech would get to posting a point on the scoreboard.

Adam Fenjiro suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat at No. 1 singles to Dom Spicer, ranked No. 28 in Division II singles nationally. Jordao faired slightly better at No. 2, but lost to Ben Lakeman 6-3, 6-0. The Huskies fell in straight sets at the four remaining lineup spots, winning a combined four games.

Wayne State (16-4, 4-0 GLIAC) extended their current win streak to five. The Huskies (0-8, 0-4 GLIAC) return to Houghton next week to host Davenport (April 15) and Purdue Northwest (April 16) at Gates Tennis Center.
