Men's Tennis Rolls Past Lake State

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Five different Michigan Tech players earned victories in the singles competition and the No. 1 doubles team of Mario Neto and Robin Duhnsen claimed the Huskies' lone win in doubles to help Tech beat Lake Superior State 6-3 in men's tennis action today (April 16) at Gates Tennis Center.

After Tech's top doubles pair took home a victory in the early portion of the match vs. Lake State, Duhnsen, Neto, Built Yumuang, Juan Felipe Chica and Ricardo Paes all won their singles matches to clinch the win for MTU.

Neto (No. 2) and Yumuang (No. 3) were particularly strong in singles as both cruised to straight-set victories.

"It was a good day for us," said head coach Kevin Kalinec. "Obviously we played well in singles and our No. 1 doubles team got a nice win, but I was pleased with how our entire team played today. We were ready to go and got the job done."

Michigan Tech (5-9 overall; 2-5 GLIAC) wraps up the regular season next weekend (April 23-24) with home matches vs. Wayne State and Northwood.
