HOUGHTON, Mich. - Ferris State defeated Michigan Tech 7-2 in
men's tennis today at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies (4-7 overall
and 0-2 GLIAC) won one singles flight and one doubles flight, but
it was not enough to claim their first GLIAC victory of the
year.
All three doubles matches were tightly contested. Tech's No. 3
doubles duo of Doug Yossida and Bryan Bartelt claimed an 8-6 win in their contest,
but the Bulldogs won at No. 1 and No. 2 by scores of 8-6 and 8-5,
respectively.
In singles, the Huskies' Luka Stupar earned a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 2
singles. Ferris won the other five flights. The No. 1 singles match
between FSU's Laurent Galarneau and Tech's Anders Sandholm went to a third set before Galarneau
prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Michigan Tech will be back in action again tomorrow when they host
Grand Valley State at 10 a.m.
