SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. The Michigan Tech men's tennis
team wrapped up its regular season today with a 7-2 loss at Lake
Superior State. The Huskies dropped to 3-15 overall and will be the
seventh seed in this weekend's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference Tournament.
LSSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match with a sweep of doubles.
All three doubles matches were tight as the number one and three
flights were decided by 8-6 scores, and the number two doubles
score was 8-5.
Tech picked up a team point as number one singles player Brett
Girard posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Pawel Wegrzyn. The Huskies'
number three singles player Alan Parenteau overcame being down a
set to triumph in three, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Michigan Tech will open play in the GLIAC Tournament Saturday
(April 19) vs. second seeded Ferris State. The GLIAC Tournament
will be held at Midland, Mich.
