HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team begins GLIAC play on the road this weekend, traveling to Parkside on Friday (2 p.m.) and Roosevelt on Sunday (1 p.m.).

The Series
The Huskies and Rangers have played to a 7-7 record, with Michigan Tech holding a 6-2 record at home. Michigan Tech holds a 2-0 series lead over second-year GLIAC affiliate Roosevelt.
About the Rangers
Parkside has slightly sputtered out of the gates with a 0-3-1 standing through the non-conference schedule, with a similar loss to Michigan Tech falling 5-0 to St. Cloud State. The Rangers also have a 4-0 loss at NSIC member Concordia-St. Paul and a 2-1 loss to Winona State in their home opener.
Parksides' tie came against GLVC member Lewis, tying 2-2 with goals from Carley Nolte and Grace Bruechel.
Nolte has a team-leading two goals for the Rangers, with two goals as Emily Giese and Emily Mikkelson have accounted for one assist respectively.
All four goalkeepers have appeared in games for Parkside, with Tristen Cross making two starts, making 12 saves on 31 shots faced while holding a 4.5 goals against average.
Parkside was predicted to finish eighth in the GLIAC preseason poll with Brittany Nikolic entering her 11th season leading the Rangers.
About the Lakers
Roosevelt has played to a 2-1 record in non-conference play, currently holding a two-game win streak with wins over GLVC foe Upper Iowa (5-1) on Sept. 7, and GMAC affiliate Thomas More (3-2) on Saturday.
The Lakers have outscored the opposition 10-6 in three games, with the outlier being the five-goal outburst against Upper Iowa. Six different players have netted goals this season, but Daisy Garcia leads the way with three goals, adding two assists for a team-high eight points. Carisma Rosales and Bella Perry are close behind with two goals apiece, respectively.
Perry earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades after scoring the first two goals of her career in the 3-2 victory over Thomas More on Saturday.
First-year goalkeeper Angelina Vazquez has played the entirety of the first three games of the season, facing 31 shots, making eight saves while allowing six goals.
Tom Czop is in his sixth season at the helm of the Lakers, who were tabbed to finish ninth in the preseason coaches' poll.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech is still finding its identity after completing the non-conference slate with a 0-4 ledger.
First-year Peyton Wetzel scored her first career goal and the Huskies' first goal of the season in a 4-1 loss to Cedarville on Thursday. Freshman Braydin Noble earned her first career assist from Wetzel's goal.
Ryley Winrich and Brooke Green led the team with three shots on goal.
Veteran goalkeeper Bri Barrows has been a stonewall for the Huskies, facing 64 shots while accounting for 31 saves for a save percentage of 79.5%. She is averaging a league-leading 7.75 saves per game while her total saves are first in the GLIAC and eighth in the country.
The Huskies were tabbed to finish in a tie for sixth in the league according to the preseason coaches' poll, as Melissa Kuhar returns for her second season at the helm.
