FOOTBALL
Tech defeated South Dakota Mines 52-50 in four overtimes in the home opener at Kearly Stadium. It was the longest game in program history and quarterback Alex Fries produced a school record 471 yards passing with five touchdowns. It was the second straight overtime game for Tech. Ethan Champney (2) and Drew Colins both found the endzone twice with Darius Willis, Asher Gregory, Brandon Michalak also scoring. Champney scored on the go-ahead two-point conversion and Hunter Buechel sealed the win with a pass breakup, finishing with a game-high 15 tackles. Tech continues non conference play at home on Saturday, hosting Hillsdale at noon at Kearly Stadium.

SOCCER
The Huskies earned a pair of 1-0 wins in Minnesota to open the season. Taylor Noble scored in the 75th minute at St. Cloud State in the season opener on Thursday, and Julia Pietila found the back of the net in the 47th minute at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Bri Barrows stopped all eight shots she faced on the weekend. The Huskies are off until a non conference trip to Northwood on September 17.

VOLLEYBALL
Tech went 4-0 at the Oredigger Classic on the season-opening weekend. The Huskies defeated No. 13 Regis and Gannon on Friday and No. 17 Colorado Mesa and host Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. Tech was the only team to go 4-0 at the tournament with three wins over NCAA Tournament Teams from a year ago and a pair of wins over AVCA top 25 teams. Junior Meg Raabe was named MVP on the All-Tournament Team after averaging 3.6 kills and 4.0 points per set on the weekend. She tallied 54 kills, 14 digs, 8 blocks, 2 assists, and 2 aces. Tech hosts the UP North Tournament next weekend at the SDC Gym. The Huskies open against No. 16 Minnesota Duluth on Friday at 10 a.m. They also play Findlay on Friday and No. 10 St. Cloud State on Saturday.

CROSS COUNTRY
The men's cross country team won the Phoenix Open at UW-Green Bay for the second straight season. Michael Dennis, Tucker Ringhand, Sam Lange, and Colman Lenci went sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth. The women's squad placed fifth and was led by Sophia Rhein in fourth-place. The Huskies are back in action on Friday, Sept. 20, traveling to the Twin Cities for the Roy Griak Invitational.
