FOOTBALL
Tech fell 19-13 in overtime at No. 25 Bemidji State on Thursday. Avery Kucharski kicked a 32-yard field goal as regulation expired to send it to the extra session but the Beavers were able to find the endzone on their possession. Ethan Champney scored the lone touchdown for Tech with a 27-yard grab from Alex Fries. Kucharski connected on a 30-yarder in the third quarter. Marc Sippel had a game-high 14 tackles. The Huskies host South Dakota Mines in the home-opener at Kearly Stadium on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

SOCCER
The 2024 Michigan Tech soccer season under first-year coach Melissa Kuhar begins in Minnesota. The Huskies play at St. Cloud State on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at Minnesota Duluth at 2 p.m. Tech returns a pair of All-Conference performers Julia Pietila (Second Team All-GLIAC Forward) and Jordan Noble (All-GLIAC Honorable Mention) to total 21 returners from a season ago.

VOLLEYBALL
Tech volleyball heads west to Golden, Colorado for the Classic at Colorado Mines. The season-opening match is against Regis on Friday at 1 p.m. The day wraps up against Gannon at 6 p.m. The Huskies play Colorado Mesa at 2 p.m. Saturday and wrap up the weekend against host Colorado Mines later in the evening at 7 p.m. Matt Jennings enters his 13th season at the helm and will lean on Kaycee Meiners (First Team), Meg Raabe (Second Team), Tess Hayes (Second Team) and Rachel Zurek (Honorable Mention) who were all named All-GLIAC last season.

CROSS COUNTRY
The Tech cross country season gets underway at the Phoenix Open hosted by UW-Green Bay on Friday. The men's squad returns first-team All-GLIAC and All-Region performer Sam Lange along with Tucker Ringhand who was the GLIAC runner-up in the 5,000m at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2023. The women's team returns low-stick Sophia Rhein returning for her sophomore year following second-team All-GLIAC in cross country as a freshman. Cedar Gordon, Ingrid Halverson and Hailee Zimpel join Rhein as the returners from the regional meet a season ago.
