Michigan Tech football kicks off its 2024 season on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bemidji State. The Huskies were picked fifth in the Preseason GLIAC Poll and the Beavers were also picked fifth in their preseason conference poll. BSU is also ranked No. 20 in the Preseason D2Football.com Top 25 Poll and No. 25 in the AFCA Preseason Poll. The two teams played 30 times between 1955 and 1993, with the last meeting in 1993, seeing Michigan Tech win 52-23 in Bemidji. Key returners for the Huskies include wide receivers Ethan Champney and Darius Willis, offensive lineman Brandon DeVries, linebackers Marc Sippel and Josh Cribben, and punter Brenden Lach who were all named All-GLIAC Second Team in 2023. Quarterback Alex Fries, defensive back Hunter Buechel, and defensive lineman Austin Schlicht were named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.
