HOCKEY
Michigan Tech hockey swept rival Northern Michigan to begin CCHA play. The Huskies shutout the Wildcats 3-0 Friday and won 6-3 Saturday. Max Koskipirtti, Stiven Sardarian, and Trevor Kukkonen each had two goals in the series while Tom Leppa, Lauri Raiman, and Marcus Pedersen also found the back of the net Derek Mullahy made 24 saves in the shutout and stopped 14 shots on Saturday. Tech plays its first road series this weekend at Ferris State. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights.

FOOTBALL
Tech football improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC with a 20-7 victory at first-time opponent Roosevelt. The Huskies scored all of their points in the first half with touchdowns by Darius Willis and Bryce Kurncz and a pair of field goals by Avery Kucharski. Porter Zeeman led the team with eight tackles. Tech wraps up its home schedule this weekend, hosting No. 7 Grand Valley State at Kearly Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon on Senior Day.

CROSS COUNTRY
Tech cross country travels to the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship on Saturday hosted by Lewis in Romeoville, Illinois. The men's 10K is at 11 a.m. Eastern followed by the women's 6K at 12:15 p.m. The top three teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship and 10 at-large teams will be selected.

VOLLEYBALL
Tech went 2-1 last week with a midweek five-set loss to Northern Michigan, followed by sweeps of Parkside and Purdue Northwest, all at the SDC Gym. Meg Raabe led the offense (4.45 k/s), Tess Hayes set the attack (11.27 a/s), and Amelia Albers led the defense (4.91 d/s). Tech is 13-10 overall and 7-6 in the GLIAC and hits the road for the final four matches, starting at Davenport Friday and No. 2 Ferris State on Saturday.

SOCCER
The Huskies fell 1-0 at Parkside on Sunday in their only game of the week. Tech is 6-9 overall and 4-8 in the GLIAC and wraps up the regular season at Saginaw Valley State on Thursday and No. 17 Grand Valley State on Saturday.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech begins its 2024-25 season at the JustAGame Crossover in Wisconsin Dells. The Huskies play Missouri-St. Louis Friday and Maryville on Saturday. Junior guard Marcus Tomashek was predicted the GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year and the Huskies were selected to tie for sixth in the GLIAC Preseason Poll.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies also begin their season at the JustAGame Crossover in Wisconsin Dells. They will play Lewis on Friday and Thomas More on Saturday. Tech was picked to finish fifth in the GLIAC Preseason Poll, and senior guard Isabella Lenz was tabbed to make the GLIAC First Team, an accolade she received a season ago.
