About the Game

With the addition of first-year Division II and GLIAC affiliate Roosevelt, each team in the league sees seven teams twice and two teams once. Michigan Tech faced Northern Michigan for the only time in the regular season on Oct. 11. Sunday's tilt marks the only contest between Michigan Tech and Parkside. The Huskies' last clash against the Rangers came in the quarterfinal of the GLIAC tournament last year, where Parkside upset Michigan Tech 2-1 at Kearly Stadium.

About the Rangers

Parkside has played to a 3-7-4 record overall while going 1-5-4 in GLIAC play. The Rangers most recently dropped a road match to Saginaw Valley State (3-1) on Friday, Oct. 25.

Despite the Rangers only having one conference win, coming at Roosevelt (3-1) on Oct. 20, Parkside is one of three teams in the league with four ties, three of which were scoreless draws.

The Rangers have only scored seven goals this season while allowing 14 goals. First-year goalkeeper Lola Minic has appeared in all 14 games for her hometown team, making 68 saves (.829 save percentage) on 217 shots faced with five shutouts.

Junior Midfielder Emily Mikkelson paces the Ranger offense with two game-winning goals and two assists while recording a team-high 18 shots on goal. Freshman forward Ava Rizzitano is the other multiple-goal scorer on the team with two goals. Midfielder Nadiia Ivanchenko has come alive late in the season for Parkside, netting a goal and an assist in the lone GLIAC win this season at Roosevelt.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech closed the final home weekend of the regular season on the right foot, recording the first GLIAC weekend sweep of the season with a 1-0 decision over Purdue Northwest Friday and a 2-0 victory against Roosevelt for Senior Day on Sunday.

The Huskies are one of three teams in the league currently holding a multiple-game win streak, currently residing seventh in the GLIAC with three games left to play in the regular season.

Senior Julia Pietila ranks fourth in points within the league with 14 points from a team-leading six goals and two assists. Her second assist came on Senior Day, seeing veteran Kiersen Korienek net her second game-winner of the year. Senior defender Emilie Clayton also joined in on the scoring, connecting on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.

Senior Jordan Noble scored her first career goal to start the home finale weekend in the 20th minute against Purdue Northwest to tie the season series at one win apiece.

Noble's goal came off a corner kick by junior defender Grace Hoeppner, recording her third assist of the season to lead the Black & Gold. The corner kicks have come in bunches for Michigan Tech, a team averaging 6.2 corner kicks per game, a feat that ranks second in the GLIAC and 29th nationally.

MTU's defense stood tall all weekend in front of goalkeeper Bri Barrows as the Huskies earned their first GLIAC weekend shutout of the season. Barrows has played to a 6-7 record combining for five shutouts, making 58 saves on 109 shots faced.
