HOCKEY
Michigan Tech hockey opened its regular season with a non-conference series sweep of Alaska. The Huskies won 2-1 both nights with an overtime victory on Friday. Max Koskipirtti, Elias Jansson, Stiven Sardarian, and Chase Pietila scored the goals on the weekend. Max Vayrynen earned both wins between the pipes with 15 saves Friday and 29 Saturday. Tech has the weekend off before hosting Clarkson on Oct. 25-26 back at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
 
CROSS COUNTRY
The No. 23 ranked men's cross country team placed seventh at the Lewis Crossover on Saturday. Sam Lange led the men in 25th-place. The women's squad finished 19th and were led by Sophia Rhein in 35th position. The Huskies wrap up the regular season on Friday, traveling to Escanaba for the Bay College Invite.
 
FOOTBALL
Tech football fell 24-20 to Davenport on Saturday at Kearly Stadium. Jake Rueff, Darius Willis, and Drew Collins scored the touchdowns for the Huskies, but the Panthers got an additional extra point and field goal for the win. Dante Basanese led the defense with 10 tackles. The Huskies are 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC and hit the road to No. 4 Ferris State for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
 
VOLLEYBALL
Tech splits its weekend with a 3-1 loss at Northern Michigan on Thursday and a 3-0 sweep of Roosevelt on Saturday at the SDC Gym. Rachel Zurek led the offense (3.29 k/s), Tess Hayes set the attack (10.86 a/s), and Amelia Albers led the defense (4.00 d/s). Tech is 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the GLIAC and wraps up non-conference action at the Midwest Region Crossover. The Huskies play Quincy and Tiffin on Friday and will wrap up the weekend on Saturday.
 
SOCCER
The Huskies played one game last week with a 2-0 setback to Northern Michigan on Friday. Tech is 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the GLIAC and hits the road to Davenport on Friday and Ferris State on Sunday.
