Hillsdale Downs Women's Tennis 6-3

HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team had a chance to pick up its third team win of the season today but Hillsdale came away with a 6-3 victory at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies, who are 2-9 overall and 2-9 in GLIAC play, have suffered six of their nine losses by 6-3 counts.

Tech's points came from the top of the lineup once again, but others had chances to pick up wins as well.

In doubles, the Huskies took No. 1 behind an 8-5 victory by Natalia Lebedeva and Kwang Suthijindawong. Emilia Tenizbaeva and Erika Tenizbaeva held a 4-2 lead at No. 2 doubles but couldn't hold on in an 8-4 loss. No. 3 was also decided 8-4 in Hillsdale's favor.

Lebedeva and Suthijindawong turned in identical 6-1, 6-2 scores at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Emilia Tenizbaeva won a second set tiebreaker to set up a third set before falling 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. The Chargers won each of the other singles matches in straight sets.

Michigan Tech will wrap up three-match home weekend with a 10 a.m. tilt vs. Findlay tomorrow (Oct. 5).
