HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Michigan Tech women's tennis team split
its last two matches on its spring break trip with a 6-3 victory
over St. Joseph's Monday (Mar. 5) and 6-3 loss to Brevard
today.
In the St. Joseph's (Ind.) match, Tech won every flight in which
it competed. Natalia Lebedeva earned a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 1
singles, then paired with Kira Eck for an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles. Ploy Suthijindawong, Kira Eck, Chelsea Uganski and Audrey Hutton were also straight set winners in
singles. The only flights SJC claimed were at No. 6 singles and No.
3 doubles, where the Huskies forfeited.
Against Brevard (N.C.), Suthijindawong was a double winner. She
gained a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles and an 8-5 decision at
No. 2 doubles with partner Uganski. Lebedeva accounted for the
team's other point at No. 1 singles by a 7-5, 6-1 score.
Michigan Tech is 4-12 overall in 2011-12 and 1-2 during its
week-long trip to Hilton Head. The Huskies will wrap up their trip
tomorrow vs. Ashford at 11:30 a.m.
