HOUGHTON, Mich. - Ashland defeated Michigan Tech 7-2 in GLIAC
women's tennis today at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies won the
No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles flights, but the Eagles claimed the
remainder of the matches.
Tech, having wrapped up its season-opening home stand, now sits
at 1-2 overall.

Lebedeva picked up her second straight win at No. 1 singles for
the Huskies. She dropped her first set 3-6 before battling back for
a 6-1 win in set two and eventually a 10-7 decision in a super
tiebreaker.
No. 2 singles player Ploy
Suthijindawong was swept 6-0 in her first set but played much
better in set two. She was edged 7-6 (5) in a tiebreaker.
Ashland claimed the other three singles matches in straight
sets.
The teams split the two doubles matches that were contested (the
other was forfeited by Tech).
Suthijindawong and Chelsea
Uganski combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles. The
Eagles No. 1 doubles pair defeated Lebedeva and Eck by an 8-2
mark.
Michigan Tech will travel to the ITA Great Lakes Regional next
weekend in Indianapolis.
