Box Score PORTLAND, Mich. - Senior Lynn Giesler scored a career-high 28 points to lead the No. 7 Michigan Tech women's basketball team to a 70-52 win over Lewis Friday (Dec. 30). The Green Bay, Wis., native was 11-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
"Lynn was amazing tonight," said head coach Kim Cameron. "She scored, rebounded and played good defense."
Fellow senior Lindsey Lindstrom recorded her first double-double of the season finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Huskies, who improve to 8-3, jumped all over the Flyers to post a 15-6 lead less than four minutes into the contest.
Lewis would narrow the Tech lead to just one, 16-15, with eight minutes remaining, but the Huskies strung together another run to enter the locker room up 10, 30-20.
The Tech lead would balloon to as many as 25 points in the second half as Tech out-scored Lewis 40-32 over the final 20 minutes for the win.
The Huskies shot 48-percent from the field and held Lewis to 27-percent. Tech also finished with a 47-31 advantage in rebounds.
Tech also did a good job with the basketball finishing with 21 assists and just 13 turnovers.
Junior Emma Veach finished with 15 points for the Huskies.
Labrenthia Murdock and Lauren Mead each finished with 10 points for the Flyers.
Tech will look to complete the season sweep of Northern Michigan when it faces the Wildcats in Marquette, Mich. on Jan. 5.
