Biography
KimCameron begins her second season at Tech, fresh off of becoming thefirst Division II head coach in Michigan Tech history to lead ateam to a national championship game in 2011. Tech's historic runthrough the NCAA Tournament came just months after Cameron wasappointed to the position on June 17, 2010.
The 2011 GLIACand WBCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year put together a 2010-11team that vastly exceeded all expectations. Not only did theHuskies compile a 31-3 record (.912 winning percentage), they didso with a group of players that began the season with a combined 12games of starting experience between them.
Tech won the GLIAC North Division with aschool-record-best .947 winning percentage (18-1) before claimingthe GLIAC Tournament title. The Huskies also won a thirdconsecutive NCAA Midwest Regional crown before defeating No.1-ranked Arkansas Tech and No. 18-ranked Northwest Missouri Stateat the Elite Eight. Along the way, Cameron's 2010-11 team setschool records for consecutive wins (18) and home wins (18).
Prior to Cameron being named head coach, shespent five years as assistant coach, helping the Huskies to 119wins and two NCAA Elite Eight appearances. She coordinated theprogram's recruiting, scouting and travel during that time, and theHuskies won 76.8 percent of their games, claimed three Great LakesIntercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division titles, advancedto the NCAA Tournament four times and cut down the nets for twoNCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
Cameron graduated from Michigan Tech in 2005with a bachelor's degree in business administration. The Alpena,Mich., native earned four letters as a player for the Huskies from2001-05, helping the squad to a 71-42 record in her four years anda trip to the NCAA Tournament as a senior.
Sheis the eighth head coach in the program's 36-year history.
