HOUGHTON, Mich. - Junior Sam Hoyt scored 24 points and senior Lindsey Lindstrom added 21 to lead the No. 8 Michigan Tech women's basketball team to a 75-59 league win over Tiffin Saturday (Dec. 10).

The win was the 37th straight at home for the Huskies who did not lose a single game at home in 2011.

"This was an awesome win for us," said head coach Kim Cameron. "Sam and Lindsey turned it on in the second half. Both are great leaders. We started attacking the basket and got some great scoring chances that were contagious."

Lindstrom had a stellar day shooting the ball shooting 9-for-11 from the field with both misses coming from behind the 3-point line where she was 2-4. The Superior, Wis., native also tallied a team-high three assists.

Senior Lynn Giesler was one rebound shy of a double-double finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The game remained close for most of the first half until the Huskies used an 8-0 run over the final four minutes of the half to take a 32-24 lead into the locker room.

Tech's offense caught fire in the second half. The Huskies shot 55-percent (16-29) in the second half after shooting 40-percent (13-32) over the first 20 minutes.

Tech (7-1, 3-0) also dominated play in the post out-scoring the Dragons (5-2, 2-3) 24-10 in the paint.

Tiffin had two players finish in double figures. Junior Jessica Harris finished with 20 and GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year senior Mandy Jaeb had 15.

Michigan Tech will play its first conference road game of the season at Ferris State Dec. 18.
