Spoehr Blanks Findlay in Soccer Win

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Freshman MaryBeth Spoehr finished with five saves to lead Michigan Tech to a 1-0 soccer win over Findlay in the final regular season home game for the Huskies. The shutout was the fifth this season for Spoehr.

"I was really proud of the play of MaryBeth today," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "She made some great saves to keep us in the game today."

Freshman Lindsey Van Rooy netted the lone goal for the Huskies after burying a loose ball in the box following a cross in the 50th minute.

The physical game featured 28 fouls, including 18 by the Oilers. Freshman Danna Kasom recorded the first yellow card in Michigan Tech school history in the 21st minute.

"Today was a really physical game," said Jacob. "I was really proud of the way our team kept its composure even with all the fouls."

Both teams recorded 11 shots in the contest and UF held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Tech will return to action at Ferris State on Friday (Oct. 15).
