Huskies fall in season finale to Purdue Northwest

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team fell 2-0 to Purdue Northwest at the Kearly Stadium on Saturday to conclude the 2025 season.

"Tough way to end our season," said Tech head coach Melissa Kuhar. "We didn't come out ready to play and PNW made us pay for the slow start. Credit to our team for continuing to battle the whole game and attempting to claw back. Bummed that the incredible careers of Lu, AK, and Avery have to come to a close! I'm beyond thankful for everything they have given to this program over their years as a Husky! Tomorrow starts the process of getting better, growing, and preparing for next year."

Purdue Northwest (6-9-2, 4-9-0 GLIAC) scored early with the Pride's top goal-scorer capitalizing on a breakdown deep in the Huskies' defensive zone, allowing Mia Davis to register a shot from the left side of the goal, hitting the right post before finding the back of the net, putting Michigan Tech (2-14-1, 2-10-1) in an early deficit.

The Pride made it 2-0 before the end of the half with Davis converting on a penalty kick.

The Huskies showed grit in the second half, producing eight shots and two corner kicks in the final 45 minutes, but could not overcome the two-goal hole from the first 45 minutes of action.

PNW outshot the Black & Gold 16-10 and 8-3 in shots on goal. Freshman Karli Koskinen and veteran captain Olivia Gette led the way with two shots as Allison Millina registered the lone shot on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Ludesha Reynolds started the game in net, making five saves on 10 shots faced before freshman Paige Bilbey took over in net in the second half, making her first appearance for the Huskies, making one save on six shots.
