GRAND VALLEY DOWNS MICHIGAN TECH IN WOMEN'S TENNIS, 8-1

ALLENDALE, Mich. — A win by number one doubles provided the only Michigan Tech point in an 8-1 women's tennis loss at Grand Valley State today. The Huskies' record fell to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the defeat.

Amy Palmgren and Nicole Kirch needed an extra game in their number one doubles pro-set to gain a 9-7 victory over Audrey Koopsen and McCall Monty. Grand Valley State won the other two doubles matches, then swept singles play.

Tech's Silvia Oliveros and Samantha Jang-Stewart were both involved in three-set matches. Oliveros was edged 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, at number two singles. Jang-Stewart fell by just two points in a third-set super tiebreaker, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 11-9.

Michigan Tech will return to action tomorrow at Ferris State with a 10 a.m. match time.
