SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Michigan Tech men's tennis team
was defeated by a score of 9-0 today at Lake Superior State.
Because of the absence of number two singles player Rajiv
Nanjandareddy, most of the Huskies' lineup played a flight up from
their normal position.
Tech team wins leader Brett Girard lost his number one singles
match, 6-1, 6-1. Rick Halverson, who normally plays number three,
dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at number two singles. Number six
singles player Alan Parenteau was able to come away with the most
games of any MTU player in his 6-4, 6-0 loss.
In doubles, Lake Superior State swept all three matches. MTU's
Yassine Borkadi and Chris Calder combined to push their number two
double match to an 8-5 score.
Michigan Tech (2-10, 0-3 GLIAC) returns home to face Findlay
Saturday (Apr. 1) and Mercyhurst Sunday (Apr. 2). Both matches will
be played at the Gates Tennis Center beginning at 10 a.m.
