HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Michigan Tech track & field team saw six personal-records fall on a busy weekend that saw the team competing at the St. Norbert's Invitational and the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday.
St. Norbert's Invitational
The St. Norbert's Invitational provided all the personal-records for the Black & Gold highlighted by the men's 800m where Brady Hager (1.55.30), Landon Pestrue (1:58.37) and Matthias Morse (1:59.12) broke two flat.
Hager claimed fourth en route to a new personal-record while Morse won his heat to also earn a new personal-best.
Ingrid Seagren led a trio of women Huskies in the 800m with her time of 2:22.10 to take fourth in heat three as Adeline Gobble clocked a season's best time of 2:23.93 and Julia Moxey finished close behind in eighth place running 2:23.81.
The freshman duo of Jackson Lillywhite and Dominic Lowrie lowered their 1,500m times taking fourth and eighth place in the third heat running 4:02.13 and 4:04.09, respectively.
Kalvin Kytta made his debut for the Black & Gold in the 3,000m steeplechase where he placed fifth with a time of 10:15.38.
"I was very excited to come to this meet. This was our last 'regular season' meet which means everyone is ready to race," said assistant head coach Luke Moore. "We saw some great weather and performances to be proud of today. Adeline ran a season best today. She executed a tactical race in a field that was very spread out. I was proud of her for being able to run her own race while still competing well with her competitors. Kalvin had a great steeple debut and closed his last lap very strong.
"Jack ran a huge 1500 PR. I know he was very hungry for it and I'm really happy that he had that breakthrough. Brady Hager ran another 800 PR. He continues to impress. Although his win streak is over, I'm sure he will walk away from this race proud. I certainly am proud of him."
GVSU Extra Weekend Meet
Claire Endres and Sam Shaver competed hard but could not find new personal records at the GVSU Extra Meet Weekend.
Endres took fifth place in the women's 3,000m steeplechase that saw the winner run 10:45.02, clocking a time of 11:07.26.
Shaver took 11th in the second heat of the women's 1,500m in a time of 4:51.24.
"Claire ran a brave race going with the field for some fast early pace," added head coach Robert Young "The steeple has a way of being extra harsh if you overextend too early and Claire got a chance to practice dealing with those consequences tonight."
