HOUGHTON, Mich. – In a tie atop the GLIAC, the No. 16 Michigan Tech men's basketball team has two regular-season games remaining, playing host to Parkside Thursday (7:30 p.m.) before welcoming Roosevelt to the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday (2:00 p.m.) for Senior Day.
The Games
Michigan Tech is looking for series sweeps over Parkside and Roosevelt, following wins in their first meeting. The Black & Gold opened GLIAC play this season with wins at Roosevelt (73-55) on Dec. 4, before a 69-54 win at Parkside on Dec. 6. Â

About the Rangers
Parkside resides 10th in the GLIAC with an overall record of 11-14 and a conference record of 6-12. The Rangers have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and most recently earned a weekend split, falling to Prude Northwest (78-70) on Thursday before handling Wayne State (77-66) on Saturday.
Parkside has found success at the free-throw line, ranking second in the GLIAC in free-throw attempts per game (24.2), free-throw percentage (74.9) and free throws made per game (18.2).
Transfer Luka Mateski ranks first in free throw attempts (201) and free throws made (178) with the second-best free throw percentage in the league (88.6). Paxton Warden has the third-best free throw attempts in the GLIAC (160) while connecting on 112.
Warden leads three players in double-figure scoring with 19 points, Mateski adds 16.4 and Josiah Palmer chips in 12.4 points per game. Palmer (3.2) and Warden (2.5) are the team's top facilitators.
Fawaz Surakat is the team's leading shot-blocker with 50 for the season, averaging 2.0 per game—both rank second in the league and top-25 nationally. Surakat also leads the team with 7.1 boards to go with 7.1 ppg.
About the Lakers
Roosevelt sits 11th in the GLIAC with two games to go. The Lakers are 2-8 in their last 10 games and are on a four-game losing skid.
Roosevelt is led by three players in double-figure scoring, with Hamahrie Bowers leading the way with 16.5 points, joined by Mikey West (14.8) and Dante Sawyer (12.8). Bowers also leads the team with 7.4 rebounds, including six on the defensive end.
West leads the team with 65 assists this season, for an average of 3.1 per game.
Davon Smith-Johnson is the interior presence defensively for the Lakers and leads the team with 22 blocks, to go with 25 steals this season.
The Lakers have a -12.9 scoring average and a -12.8 rebounding margin this season. RU averages 67.7 points and 28.6 rebounds per game.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech has a lot to play for with two games remaining in the regular season. The Black & Gold are tied atop the GLIAC with a 14-4 conference record while playing to a 23-5 record overall. The Huskies most recently played to a split, falling to then-No. 22 Northern Michigan (70-64) on Thursday before completing four-straight road contests, with a 79-68 win at Ferris State on Monday.
The Huskies All-American, Marcus Tomashek, netted 27 points, knocking down six 3-pointers in Monday's win and continues to lead the team in scoring with 21.6 points per game to go with 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Dawson Nordgaard and Ty Fernholz are the next best scorers for the Huskies, recording 9.3 and 9.0 points per game, respectively.
Michigan Tech ranks first in the GLIAC and 10th nationally in field goal percentage defense (3.9.5) while ranking second in the league in scoring defense (65.3), three-point attempts per game (27.5) and three-point percentage defense (30.3).
Nate Abel and Gabe Smith control the glass for Michigan Tech with 7.1 and 6.5 rebounds per game, respectively. Abel's 6.14 defensive rebounds per game ranks second in the GLIAC and 40th in the country.
Smith has 52 total steals this season and averages 1.86 steals per game, which ranks third in the league.

Michigan Tech averages 37.75 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the GLIAC. For the year, the Huskies are 16-1 in games where they out rebound the opponent.
