HOUGHTON, Mich. – For the second consecutive season, Michigan Tech guard Marcus Tomashek has been named to the Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List announced today for the top player in the NCAA Division II, III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA ranks.
The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.
Tomashek, a standout from Green Bay, Wisconsin, leads the No. 8 nationally-ranked Huskies in scoring this season at 21.6 ppg, adding 4.2 rpg and 3.0 apg. His 21.6 points per game rank second in the league and his 540 points this season rank first in the GLIAC and ninth in the country.
Tomashek became the fifth player in program history to score 2,000 points and he currently is the Division II active career leader in points (2,253), scoring average (19.8), three-point field goals made (307), three-point attempts (837), while ranking second in field goal attempts (1,738) and third in free throws made (508).
On March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 4th, the finalists of this year's award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 6th.
