HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's tennis team hit the road for the first time this season, falling 5-2 at Hillsdale on Saturday and 4-3 at Northwood on Sunday.
Against the Chargers on Saturday,
Emily Cojocaru won her No. 3 singles match, 6-1, 6-4.
Caoimhe McDonnell earned the other point with a three-set win in the No. 4 position, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. The duo also won their doubles match in the No. 3 spot 6-4.
Bella Bigari pushed her No. 2 singles match to three sets, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7.
Tech took the doubles point on Sunday against the Timberwolves.
Caoimhe McDonnell and
Emily Cojocaru won their second match of the weekend, 6-3.
Alexandra Nikonenko and
Katerina Khardina edged their No. 3 doubles opponent, 6-4. In singles,
Emily Rose dominated her opponent, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and
Anamarija Ukic took a commanding, 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Emily Cojocaru and
Alexandra Nikonenko both pushed their singles matches to three sets.
After a weekend off, the Black and Gold get back to action with another road trip south, traveling to Illinois Springfield on Feb. 14 and Quincy on Feb. 15.
