HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team completes four-straight games at the SDC Gymnasium this weekend with a top-20 matchup on Thursday (7:30 p.m.) against No. 18 nationally-ranked Northern Michigan before hosting Ferris State on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).

Thursday's contest will be televised locally on FOX-UP with Dave Ellis calling the action. TV6 and FOX-UP began broadcasting the Tech versus NMU rivalry during the 2013-14 season.

About the Wildcats
Northern Michigan is the hottest team in the league at the moment, riding a 12-game win-streak for an overall standing of 13-1 and a 4-0 record in the GLIAC. The Wildcats' lone loss came against Missouri-St. Louis on Nov. 15, a team Michigan Tech also lost to early in the season.
Part of the win-streak came against two Division III opponents and three teams in Puerto Rico before the holiday break. The Wildcats jumped the Huskies in the league standings with a 72-60 win over Grand Valley State on Saturday, after downing Davenport 101-65 on Thursday.
Veteran Dylan Kuehl earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after averaging 29 points per game on 19-27 (70.4%) from the field and 9-13 (69.2%) from 3-point range.
For the year, the Wildcats are posting 84.6 points per game, with a scoring margin of 26.6 points, which ranks third in the country. NMU has the third-best 3-point percentage (41.2) and the fourth-best 3-pointers per game (11.5) nationally.
Three starters average double-digit scoring, led by Kuehl with 17.9 as sharp-shooter Cal Klesmit and Jackson Dudek add 15.1 and 12.9 ppg, respectively.
The Wildcats were tabbed to finish second in the GLIAC under the guidance of Matt Majkzak in his seventh season as head coach at Northern Michigan.
About the Bulldogs
Ferris State is in a rebuilding phase in 2025-26 with a 6-5 record overall and a 3-1 ledger in the league. After losing the first four games of the season, the Bulldogs are winners of three-straight, most recently besting Parkside (74-72) at home on Monday.
The Bulldogs have found success guarding the perimeter with the second-best 3-point percentage defense in the country (25%) while Owen Hardy and Mykel Bingham command the paint, as they both are averaging over a block per game, as part of the 4.1 team blocks per game.
Offensively, Tyler Hamilton (12.9), Bingham (12.6) and Chang Hoth (11.0) are averaging double-digit scoring. Hamilton also leads the team with 3.7 assists per outing as Bingham adds a team-high 7.5 boards while Hardy chips in 6.2 per game.
Alex Fodness is in his first season as the interim head coach of the Bulldogs, who were selected to finish sixth in the league.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech saw its nine-game win-streak end on Friday, falling to Grand Valley State (79-75) before closing the first weekend back in action on a high note with a 77-68 win over Davenport on Saturday. For the season, the No. 12-ranked Huskies are 12-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
The Lakers spoiled a career scoring night for veteran Josh Terrian, who scored a career-high 19 points, going 5-9 from 3-point land and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line to lead the team. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin, product also led his squad in points on Saturday with 18 on 6-11 from 3-point land.
Nate Abel and Gabe Smith each recorded double-doubles against Davenport. Abel had 14 points on 4-6 shooting and 4-4 from the free-throw line and a career-high 12 rebounds as Smith had 11 points (4-9) to go with 12 boards, four on the offensive end.
The Huskies' defense has been one of the best in the country all season, ranking fourth in field goal percentage defense (37.4%) and eighth nationally in scoring defense (60.9).
Marcus Tomashek paces the team in points (18.9) and assists (3.1) to go with 4.4 rebounds. Ty Fernholz adds 10.8 points, including a team-high 2.93 3-pointers made per game.
The duo of Abel and Smith led the team in rebounding and steals. Abel averages a team-high 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals as Smith produces 6.9 boards and 1.9 pickpockets.

The Huskies are posting 9.4 3-pointers per game and are 10-1 when making more 3-pointers than the opponents.
