HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's tennis team fell 5-2 on Friday to Ferris State and 6-1 to Wayne State on Saturday at Gates Tennis Center.
Chiara Heinz was honored on Senior Day Saturday and won her fourth and fifth straight singles matches.
Caoimhe McDonnell and
Alexandra Nikonenko won their No. 1 doubles match 6-3 to begin the match against the Bulldogs.
Chiara Heinz won her singles match in the No. 5 slot 7-5, 6-4.
Emily Rose also scored for the Huskies, taking her No. 4 singles match 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
On Saturday against the GLIAC's top team in Wayne State,
Chiara Heinz and
Emily Rose took their No. 3 doubles match 7-6. Heinz won 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 to improve to 8-1-1 in singles play this season.
Tech has three matches left in the regular season and travels to Davenport on Friday and Grand Valley State on Saturday. The Huskies are 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the GLIAC.
