HOUGHTON, Mich. – The top-seeded Michigan Tech men's basketball team will see the No. 4 seeded Northern Michigan for the third time this season, as the two teams are set to meet in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals at the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday at noon.

About the Wildcats
Northern Michigan earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and took down the No. 5 seed Grand Valley State (85-72) at the Vandament Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Wildcats controlled the game early and often as NMU scored 40 points in the opening half, holding the Lakers to just 23 points. Five players reached double-figure scoring, led by Jackson Dudek, who had an impressive 17 points on seven-of-nine from the field, including three-of-five from long range, adding five rebounds and four assists. Bryan Parzych added 14 points, making a team-leading four triples. The Wildcats leading scorer, Dylan Kuehl (16.3ppg) was held to just seven points in 23 minutes, picking up four fouls.
Dudek and Sam Privet recorded a team-leading five rebounds, respectively.Â
NMU poured in 45 second-half points as the Wildcats shot nearly 60 percent for the game (58.8), gaining 26 bench points, 24 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers.
About the Huskies
The top-seeded Huskies rolled first-year GLIAC member Roosevelt 84-65 to remain perfect at the SDC Gymnasium this season (13-0) and continue to play host for the remainder of the GLIAC Tournament. The regular season GLIAC Champions remain No. 2 in the latest NCAA Midwest Regional poll and are winners of eight in a row for an overall record of 23-6.
Michigan Tech saw four players reach double-figure, scoring led by junior guard Marcus Tomashek with 17 points. Ty Fernholz came off the bench, providing 16 points as Gabe Smith (12) and Nate Abel (11) also reached double-digit scoring. Josh Terrian led the Huskies with seven rebounds, adding two assists.
The Black & Gold used a 3-point barrage midway through the first half to break contact from the Lakers and connected on 12 3-pointers for the game, with freshman guard Fernholz knocking down a team-leading four triples. Abel (3) and Adam Hobson (2) also hit multiple shots from beyond the arc as the Huskies shot over 47 percent from three for the game.
The Huskies also commanded the glass with 39 total rebounds compared to 29 from the opposition.Â
One Last Thing
Michigan Tech won both meetings against U.P. rivals Northern Michigan in the regular season for the first time in four seasons.
