HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team returns to the road for the second to last complete weekend away from the SDC Gymnasium, traveling to Wayne State Thursday (7:30 p.m.) and Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (3:00 p.m.).

About the Warriors
Wayne State has played to a .500 record over 20 games with an overall standing of 10-10 while playing to a 6-6 record in the GLIAC. The Warriors most recently played to a weekend split of the road, narrowly edging Purdue Northwest (73-69) on Thursday before dropping a contest at Parkside (80-63) on Saturday.
Although the Warriors are a .500 team, they hold a 7-3 record at the Wayne State Fieldhouse this season.Â
Wayne State gets vital points from the guard play as Rob Lee, Jr. (15.3 points), Tamario Adley (14.9) and Carmelo Harris (13.7) are the team's top-scorers as forward Carlos Paul III joins the trio in double-figure scoring chipping in 10.2 points a game. Lee, Jr. is the biggest threat offensively, as he erupted for 40 points in a win over Northern Michigan last month. Adley chips in a team-leading 3.6 assists per outing for the Warriors.
Ray Williams Jr. is Wayne State's top rebounder with 6.1 boards per game.
The Warriors rank second in the league in free throw percentage (75.4%), free throws made per game (15) and turnovers per game (10.4).Â
About the Cardinals
Saginaw Valley State enters the week with a 9-11 record overall while playing to a 5-7 record in conference play. The Cardinals are winners of three-straight and have gone 4-6 over the last 10 games. SVSU started the win streak with a win over Roosevelt (79-61) before earning two gritty road wins against Parkside (68-65) and Purdue Northwest (103-100) in overtime last Saturday. The Cardinals reside sixth in the league standings.
Toodles Seal reached new heights in Saturday's win as he scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Cardinals. Seal and Freddie McIntosh are SVSU's top scorers, producing 15.5 and 15.4 points per game, respectively.
As a team, the Cardinals rank first in the league with 11 fastbreak points and second in the GLIAC with 26.9 three-point attempts per outing. McIntosh connects on 2.9 triples per game to lead the way, as Richmond Mawutor controls the glass with 6.4 boards a game.Â
Elijah Mattingly is the anchor inside for SVSU, with 18 blocks this season for an average of 1.2 per game.Â
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech is in a tie with No. 11 Lake Superior State atop the GLIAC standings with a 10-2 ledger in the league, while the Huskies have played to a 15-5 overall record riding a three-game win streak.
The Huskies are receiving votes in both national polls this week, continuing to knock on the door of the top 25. Michigan Tech ranks in the top-20 in the country in field goal percentage (49.5%), three-point percentage (39%) and 3-pointers per game (10.2). Junior guard and GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year Marcus Tomashek, ranks third in the nation with 25.5 points per game, producing 2.84 3-pointers an outing to lead the Huskies.Â
The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week four times this season with two 40-point outings and six 30-point games in the 2024-25 campaign, helping the Black & Gold to an undefeated record at home and four GLIAC weekend sweeps.
Dawson Nordgaard (9.9), Pete Calcaterra (9.2) and Adam Hobson (7.3) also chip in offensively for the Huskies. Calcaterra leads the way with four rebounds per game as Tomashek adds a team-leading 3.3 assists.
Michigan Tech has the chance to earn two series sweeps with two wins on the road this weekend.

The Huskies rank second in the GLIAC with 27.4 defensive rebounds per game and are 12-1 this season when out-rebounding the opposition.
