HOUGHTON, Mich. – The No. 13 Michigan Tech men's basketball team is set for a road trip to Minnesota for the 2025 American Family Insurance Classic hosted at Minnesota Duluth. The Huskies will face Minnesota Duluth Friday at 7:00 p.m. before taking on St. Cloud State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

About Minnesota Duluth
Minnesota Duluth opened the 2025-26 season over the weekend at the GAC/NSIC Challenge. The Bulldogs came away with a weekend sweep with wins over East Central (71-66) Friday and Southeastern Oklahoma State 84-61 on Saturday.
UMD moves to 3-0 in the early season with an 89-58 victory over College of St. Scholastica on Tuesday evening.
Junior guard Caleb Siwek recorded a 34-point outburst in the season-opener and is averaging 25 points on 61.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point land. Nick Katona joins Siwek in double-figure scoring with 11.3 points and a team-leading eight rebounds and 1.3 blocks per outing.
As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 81.3 points on 52.1 percent from the field while winning the battle on the glass with 40 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs were predicted to win the NSIC North Division under Just Wieck in his eighth season at Minnesota Duluth.
About St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State dropped two games in St. Joseph, Missouri, to open the season at the Hillyard Tipoff Classic. The Huskies fell to MIAA foes Northwest Missouri State (71-65) on Friday and Emporia State (77-61) on Saturday.
SCSU will also face Lake Superior State on Friday before clashing with Michigan Tech.
Through the opening weekend, St. Cloud State is shooting 34.7 percent from the field for 63 points per game. The Huskies have struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 13.5 percent from deep.
Sophomore guard Luke Winkel averages 18 points a game following a 24-point game in the season opener. Winkel also leads the team in assists (six) and steals (5).
Lee Marks III (11ppg) and Wyatt Hawks (10ppg) also average double-digit scoring. Nate Dahl and Lee are the top rebounders with nine and eight rebounds per game, respectively.
The Huskies were tabbed to finish second in the NSIC South Division under Quincy Henderson in his fourth season as the head coach of St. Cloud State. Â

No. 13 Michigan Tech heads to Minnesota with a 3-1 record through two weekends of play. The Huskies most recently played to a weekend split at the D2 Midwest Region Tip-Off hosted at the JustAGame Fieldhouse in the Wisconsin Dells.
The Black & Gold slipped up against a tough Missouri-St. Louis' team on Friday, falling 78-57 before turning the corner for a 72-61 victory over Maryville to close the trip on Saturday.
Veteran guard Nate Abel had a career-day in the win on Saturday with his first career double-double, scoring 15 points paired with a career-high 11 boards. The Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, native also had a career-high five steals to go with four assists.
Four additional Huskies scored in double-figures in the game, with Gabe Smith leading the way at 16 points, followed by Marcus Tomashek with 14 points, as sophomore Grant Warren and Dawson Nordgaard added 10 points, respectively.
For the season, Tomashek (22 points) and Smith (10.3 points) lead the team in scoring. Tomashek, Smith and Nordgaard are all averaging a team-leading 6.3 boards per game.
The Huskies' individual defensive statistics are among the best in the land as Abel ranks second in the country with 13 steals with Smith's 10 pickpockets ranking eighth nationally. Warren has seven blocks to his name in four games, which is good for 12th in the country.
One Last Thing
Minnesota Duluth is historically one of the better teams in the NSIC and has been a tough foe for Michigan Tech. In fact, the Bulldogs have won the last seven meetings, with the Huskies' last win coming on Nov. 26, 2016, in Duluth.
