HOUGHTON, Mich. – The No. 13 nationally-ranked Michigan Tech men's basketball team begins the season this weekend at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Florida Southern. The Huskies will face two nationally-ranked opponents, starting with No. 3 Dallas Baptist on Saturday before taking on No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne on Sunday. Both games are slated for a 3:30 tipoff.

About the Patriots
No. 3 nationally-ranked Dallas Baptist is coming off a 2024-25 season that saw the Patriots set the program record for wins, posting a 34-5 overall record with a 19-3 ledger in the Lone Star Conference.
DBU also won the program's first LSC regular season title and LSC Tournament championship before winning the South Central Regional title. The Patriots' trip to the NCAA Tournament was the eighth time in the last 10 years finishing the season at the national semifinal game.
The Patriots return 12 players from a season ago, led by 2024-25 LSC Defensive Player of the Year, redshirt senior guard Xavion Brown.
Head coach Blake Flickner, the NABC South Region All-District Coach of the Year in 2024-25, returns for his 20th season at the helm of the Patriots.
About the Bears
No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne was an Elite Eight team a season ago with an overall record of 29-6, the most wins in a single season in school history, while winning the SAC Tournament Championship and the Southeast Regional Championships.
The Bears return the reigning Southeast Region Tournament MVP Conrad Luczynski, as Lenoir-Rhyne was predicted to repeat as SAC Champions. Senior guard Julian Dozier was tabbed as a SAC Player to Watch.
The Bears return seven players from a season ago with Luczynski also making Wayne Cavadi's nine returning big men to watch in DII men's basketball this season.
Head coach Brent Owen is in his second year at the helm of the Bears after earning 2024-25 SAC Coach of the Year and Co-Coach of the Year for the NCAA Division II Southeast Region.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech is fresh off an outright GLIAC regular season Championship that ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with an overall ledger of 24-8 and an in-league record of 17-3.
The Huskies return All-American, Midwest Regional Player of the Year and GLIAC Player of the Year, Marcus Tomashek, back for his senior season. GLIAC Second Team honoree Dawson Nordgaard and two-time All-Defense selection also return for their final season for the Black & Gold.
Michigan Tech returns its entire starting five and returns 14 players from the GLIAC Championship team. The Huskies were selected as the favorites in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll behind 2024-25 GLIAC Coach of the Year, Josh Buettner, returning for his fifth season at the helm of his alma mater.
Tomashek, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was tabbed the GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year while Nordgaard was tabbed to the Preseason All-GLIAC Second Team. Tomashek also appeared in Wayne Cavadi's 10 DII men's basketball returning guards to watch this season.
