HOUGHTON, Mich. – Fresh off the Lewis Crossover last weekend, the Michigan Tech cross country squads are set to host the Husky Invitational at the Tech Trails on Friday afternoon.
The men will open the meet with the 8k at 3:30 p.m. with the women to follow at 4:15 p.m. Results of the meet will be available on TFRRS and Michigantechhuskies.com.
Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan and the Wildcats club teams will comprise the competition for the meet. 16 men will line up for the 8k course while the women will have six trekking the 6k course.
The Huskies most recently competed at the highly competitive Lewis Crossover, which featured over 35 Division II teams.Â
Michigan Tech saw freshman Hannah DuPuis excel in the women's 6k with a top-25 individual finish among a field of over 330 runners in a new-personal best of 22:05.1 that earned her GLIAC Athlete of the Week as the women's team took 17th overall. Michael Dennis was the front-runner for the Huskies men's squad, taking 32nd overall, leading the way for a 13th-place team finish.
In total, 19 Huskies came away from the Lewis Crossover with personal-bests, including five runners that will be competing at the Tech Trails on Friday in Nik Thomas (26:04), Brayden Sobecki (27:14), Aiden Shulfer (27:50) on the men's side and Julia Moxey (25:05) and Bella Reimers (25:46) in the women's 6k.
