Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. - Senior Lindsey Lindstrom tallied a double-double for the Michigan Tech women's basketball team with a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 73-66 conference win at Northwood Thursday (Jan. 26). Tech (13-4, 8-3 GLIAC) has won 42 of the last 44 meetings against Northwood (7-11, 2-9 GLIAC).
"I was proud of the way we responded to a tough Northwood team," said head coach Kim Cameron. "Lindsey stepped up and put us on her shoulders in the second."
The Huskies led for most of the first half and held a nine point lead, 24-15, with six minutes remaining. NU closed the half on a 15-4 run to hold a slim 30-28 lead at the break.
Lindstrom dominated the second half scoring 17 of her 26 points over the final 20 minutes. The Superior, Wis., native scored 14 straight points for the Huskies over a four minute stretch.
Tech out-scored Northwood 45-36 in the second half.
The Huskies recorded 20 assists on 25 made baskets in the game, including a game-high nine by junior Sam Hoyt. She also had eight points and six rebounds.
"Sam had a great game finishing with nine assists," said Cameron.
Senior Lynn Giesler finished with 15 points for the Huskies, and senior Savannah Stedman scored a game-high 29 points for Northwood.
NU was able to stay with Tech for most of the contest thanks to free throws. NU finished 24-28 (86-percent) from the line compared to 18-24 (75-percent) for Tech. Stedman shot 13-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Tech will play at Hillsdale Saturday (Jan. 28).
