Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Sarah DeShone scored a game-high 24 points, including 15 in the second half, to lead Ferris State to a 71-56 win over the No. 7 Michigan Tech women's basketball team Sunday (Dec. 18). Tech's last two conference losses have occurred at Ferris State.
Michigan Tech held a slim 35-32 lead over Ferris State at halftime shooting 54-percent (15-28) from the field. The Huskies lost their shooting touch in the second half shooting 22-percent (7-31). Ferris State out-scored the Huskies 39-21 over the final 20 minutes.
"We gave up far to many points in the second half," said head coach Kim Cameron. "We took to many 3-point shots when we should have attacked the basket."
Tech (7-2, 3-1) finished 7-27 from behind the arc.
FSU finished 22-25 from the free throw line and Tech was 5-7. Ferris controlled much of the play in the paint finishing with a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint.
Junior Sam Hoyt scored a team-high 20 points for the Huskies. She added three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Sophomore Kate Glodowski scored a season-high 10 points shooting 4-for-5 from the field including 2-for-3 from behind the arc.
Senior Lynn Giesler and junior Emma Veach each added eight points for the Huskies.
Tech will play at Grand Valley State Monday (Dec. 19).
