Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - Senior Lindsey Lindstrom scored a season and game-high 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead No. 9 Michigan Tech to a 62-52 nonconference win over Minn.-Crookston Friday (Nov. 25).
Lindstrom scored the first three baskets for the Huskies who improve to 3-1 with the win. Tech's lead would steadily grow over the first half culminating at 19 points thanks to three straight baskets at the end of the half to lead 33-14.
Tech's offense continued to dominate scoring the first six baskets of the second half to extend its lead to a game-high 30.
The Golden Eagles capitalized on numerous fouls by the Huskies midway through the second half. UMC slowly reduced Tech's lead and eventually pulled within 10 points with less than four minutes remaining.
Tech made its final six free throws of the contest, including four by junior Sam Hoyt, to come away with the 62-52 win. Tech finished 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
"We had a great first half. It was the best half we have played this year," said head coach Kim Cameron. "Our second half was not our best. We lost our aggressiveness and we need to continue to attack. We need to work on putting two halves together."
Sophomore Heather Kessler scored a career-high 10 points off the bench for the Huskies, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor.
"Our bench did a good job tonight," said Cameron. "Heather was a real spark for us."
Senior Krista Kasuboski scored a season-high 10 points shooting 4-for-6 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point line. The Wautoma, Wis., native also recorded two steals and two assists.
Tech will face Concordia-St. Paul Saturday (Nov. 26).
