Box Score HOUGHTON, Mich. - All 15 players scored for the Michigan Tech women's basketball team in a 62-26 win over local rival Finlandia Tuesday (Nov. 15). Senior Lynn Giesler was the leading scorer for the Huskies for the second straight game finishing with a game-high 10 points in nine minutes of play.
Tech's defense was on display early holding the Lions to just 4-of-27 from the floor in the first half to enjoy a 26-12 lead at halftime.
Tech's defense would continue to dominate, but the offense would heat up in the second half. The Huskies shot 50 percent (15-30) in the second half after shooting just 32 percent (10-31) in the first.
Tech capitalized on Finlandia's mistakes scoring 20 points off of 24 turnovers by the Lions. The Huskies also controlled the play in the post outscoring the Lions 22-0 down low.
"I was really happy with the way the team came out in the second half. The first five minutes really set the tone," said head coach Kim Cameron. "Everyone was able to contribute tonight, and I was really happy with how we finished the game."
Sophomore Paige Albi and freshman Michelle Gaedke each came off the bench to score eight and seven points respectively. Gaedke also recorded two assists and a game-high two blocks.
Freshman Emily Harrison grabbed a game-high seven rebounds and added four points.
Freshman Marissa Burke was the top scorer for FU with nine points.
Tech will play its first regular season road game of the season at Indianapolis Saturday (Nov. 19).
