SARTIN HIRED AS FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE LINE COACH

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech head football coach Tom Kearly today announced today the hiring of David Sartin as the program's offensive line coach. Sartin, who spent the last three years as an assistant at Grand Valley State, replaces recently departed Butch Barry.

Sartin was offensive graduate assistant at GVSU during three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Lakers won the 2006 national title and were semifinalists in 2007.

Prior to his stint in Allendale, Mich., Sartin served as offensive line coach for four seasons at North Park University, an NCAA Division III institution located in Chicago. Before that, he worked at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, for three seasons.

As a student-athlete, Sartin was a part of three national championships at Division III Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. He was a two-time letterman as an offensive tackle. He began his coaching career there as a student and gained his degree in physical education and health in 2008.

Sartin begins his duties immediately.

Erik Ieuter, who has been serving as Michigan Tech's wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator, has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Michigan Tech, which is coming off an 8-3 season last fall, will begin spring practice Friday (March 27). Three weeks of drills will culminate in the annual spring game to be played at Sherman Field Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m.
