Richardson Scores 22 Points
HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Michigan Tech fell behind 13-0 in the first
five minutes and eventually fell, 77-61, at Hillsdale in a Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball
contest.
Radayl Richardson led the Huskies in scoring with 22 points, and
Kevin Maloney was the only other player in double digits with 11
points.
Sean Geary scored Tech's first field goal at the 12:06 mark of the
first half and helped the visitors on a 10-0 run to make the score
17-14. The Huskies remained within three points at the 6:08 mark
before seven straight points from Hillsdale. Despite Kyle Pullen's
three-pointer with :49 to go in the half, the host Chargers led,
38-30, at the break.
MTU was never closer than eight points the entire second half.
Hillsdale shot 49 percent from the field and converted 18-of-21
free throws in the win. Tech shot 34 percent from the field. A
total of 16 turnovers also proved costly for the Black and
Gold.
Tim Strom and Chris Baugh tied for team-high honors in rebounding
with seven apiece. Geary finished with nine points, three assists
and two steals off the bench. Pullen played 25 minutes and tallied
eight points.
Michigan Tech (9-10, 4-6 GLIAC) will next play at Saginaw Valley
State on Thursday (Jan. 25).
