Biography

Randy McKay, who played 15 years in the National Hockey Leagueand won two Stanley Cup titles, is in his fifth season as teamliason at Michigan Tech. McKay will not work with the team on theice but will lend his experience and insight to improve theprogram.

McKay played for Michigan Tech from 1984-88. He competed in 145career games and recorded 38 goals and 63 assists, good for 101career points.

Immediately following his senior season at Tech, he joined theAdirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League for the final 10games of their season. McKay returned to Adirondack for the 1988-89season, a year in which he also played three games for the DetroitRed Wings. He split time the following season with Adirondack andthe Red Wings and in 1990-91 became a full-time force in the NHL.He was traded to New Jersey following the 1991-92 season and played11 seasons with the Devils. McKay and his “Crash Line”helped New Jersey win the Stanley Cup in 1995. He also helped theDevils win the Stanley Cup again in 2000. He was traded to theDallas Stars late in the 2001-02 season and finished a standout NHLcareer in 2002-03 with the Montreal Canadiens.

In all, McKay played in 932 NHL games with 162 goals and 201assists.

McKay and his wife Katie live in Houghton, Michigan, with theirfour children -- Riley, Kaitlyn, Dawson, and McKenna.
