Biography

Pat Mikesch is in his sixth year as assistantcoach at Michigan Tech after being appointed to the position onJuly 1, 2004. He works with all facets of the Tech hockeyprogram.

Mikesch spent the eight years since graduating from Michigan Techplaying professional hockey. After his final campaign at Tech(1995-96), he left school and played seven games for the LouisvilleRiverfrogs of the East Coast Hockey League. In 1996-97, Mikeschplayed for the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the American HockeyLeague before stints with the Orlando Solar Bears of theInternational Hockey League in 1997-98 and New Haven Beast (AHL)and Florida Everblades (ECHL) in 1998-99. He then went to play inGermany five seasons. He started in the German 2nd League where in1999-2000 he competed for the Iserlohn Roosters. He then moved upto play in the German Elite League where he spent three seasonswith the Kassel Huskies (2000-2003) before finishing hisprofessional career in Dusseldorf with the Metro Stars in2003-04.

A native of Hancock, Mich., Mikesch finished his four-year stint atTech (1992-96) as the seventh all-time leading point getter inschool history with 169 points on 57 goals and 112 assists.

He helped the Huskies reach the Western Collegiate HockeyAssociation Final Five in three of his four campaigns, includinghis senior season in which Tech lost in the title game of the eventand just missed advancing to the NCAA Championships. He was athree-time member of the WCHA All-Academic Team and was named tothe WCHA All-Rookie Team in 1992-93.

Mikesch remains actively involved with USA Hockey. In 2003 and2005, he served as assisant coach for the All-Region team in theSelect 16 Festival. He served in the same capacity at the Select 17Festival in 2004. Mikesch was a coach at the Michigan MidgetFestival in 2004 and 2005 and also was a coach at the SoutheastRegional Select Camp in 2004. Additionally, Mikesch played on USAHockey’s entry in the Deutschland Cup in both 2002 and 2003,serving as assistant captain on the ‘03 squad.

Mikesch and his wife, Aimee reside in Hancock with their daughter,Kallianne, and sons, Austin and Eliott.
