Biography

Josh Buettner begins his fifth season as assistant men’s basketball coach at Michigan Tech after taking the position July 1, 2008.

The Shawano, Wis., native starred for the Huskies from 2001-05. He was a two-time All-American and earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as both a junior and senior.

A 6-9 forward, Buettner finished third on Tech’s all-time scoring chart with 2,061 career points.

Following his graduation from Michigan Tech in 2005, Buettner played professionally in Europe for three years. He played in leagues in Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland, and was named the Danish Elite League Player of the Year in his second pro campaign.

In addition to his coaching duties, Buettner teaches classes in the kinesiolgy and integrated physiology.

Buettner, born June 24, 1982, is single and resides in Houghton.
