Walter Kyes was a three-year letterwinner in football from
1957-59.
He played tackle on both sides of the ball and helped lead
Michigan Tech to the first conference title in school history in
1959. The Huskies were 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the league that
year.
Kyes, who passed away on Oct. 26, 1996, served as president of
the Michigan Tech Alumni Relations Board from 1976-78. He graduated
in 1959 with a degree in civil engineering and was a member of the
Michigan Tech President’s Society.
