WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BOASTS NATION'S SECOND-BEST GPA!
HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Michigan Tech women's basketball team earned the second-best grade point average of any NCAA Division II women's basketball team it was announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. For the second straight season, the Huskies ranked among the top five of nearly 300 teams nationwide. They were fourth a year ago.

PALMGREN EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA HONORS
HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech women's tennis player Amy Palmgren has been selected to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Second Team picked by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The Huskies' number one singles player has now earned Academic All-America honors twice—she was an at-large third team honoree last year.

TECH AND NORTHERN TO PLAY FOOTBALL SEPT. 18 ON CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The date of the annual Michigan Tech-Northern Michigan football rivalry has been moved up to Thursday, Sept. 18, to accommodate a national television audience. The game will be played at 8 p.m. at NMU's Superior Dome and appear on CBS College Sports Network according to the schedule released by the NCAA this week.

METZ EARNS GLIAC COMMISSIONER'S AWARD
Michigan Tech senior Andrea Metz was one of six females honored with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Award. The award given for academic and athletic excellence, sponsored by Meijer Incorporated, is awarded to six female and six male athletes for the fall, winter and spring seasons.
