WEEKEND MATCHES
• Michigan Tech travels to Colorado Springs to compete in the Mountain Lion Classic.
• The Huskies will face host UCCS on Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern.
• Tech plays St. Edwards at 11 a.m. Eastern on Friday and South Dakota Mines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
• The weekend wraps up against Midwestern State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The football Huskies will be playing the Mustangs at the same time in Houghton.

COACH PINDRAL AT UCCS
• Coach Pindral played three seasons for UCCS as the starting setter from 2009-11.
• She was an Academic All-American and All-RMAC selection.
• Pindral ranks third in program history in assists per set (9.27) and eighth with 2,151 assists.

LAST TIME OUT
• Tech went 2-2 in the UP North Volleyball Tournament to begin the season.
• Tech fell to Minnesota Duluth in five in the season and home opener, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 17-25, and 25-23.
• In Marquette on Friday, St. Cloud State was victorious in another five-setter, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, and 15-11.
• Tech swept Cal State East Bay Saturday morning in Marquette, 25-16, 25-23, and 25-22.
• The weekend wrapped up with a sweep of Winona State, 25-21, 25-18, and 25-17.
 
UP NORTH ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
• Senior outside hitter Rachel Zurek has been named to the UP North All-Tournament Team.
• Zurek averaged 4.38 kills per set while hitting .275 during the opening weekend of play.
• She tallied 16 kills against Minnesota Duluth, 23 versus St. Cloud State, 14 in three sets against Cal State East Bay, and 17 in a sweep of Winona State. Zurek added five solo blocks, three block assists, and three digs.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
• UCCS is 1-3 with a win over Rockhurst and losses to Flagler, Northern State, and Cal Poly Humboldt. The Mountain Lions were the top pick in the Preseason RMAC Poll and return four all-conference selections from last year's team that went 26-4 overall and 13-1 in the conference.
• St. Edward's is 2-2 with a pair of three-set losses to Missouri Western and Florida Southern, and a pair of 3-1 wins over Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle. The Hilltoppers were selected to finish 11th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll after an 11-11 season in 2025.
• South Dakota Mines is 3-1 after hosting an opening tournament and sweeping Lake Superior State, Minnesota Crookston, and Chadron State. The lone loss was to Jamestown. Mines ended the 2025 season with a 10-16 overall record and 7-7 RMAC record. After starting the season 0-8, the Rockers won 10 of their next 18 games to finish the season 10-8. The RMAC picked Mines eighth in the preseason poll.
• MSU is 2-1 on the season with all three matches going only three sets. The wins are over Truman State and Regis, and a loss to Fort Hays State. The Mustangs finished last season with a 16-10 record overall, including a 9-8 record in the Lone Star Conference, and were picked 10th in the preseason poll.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
• The Huskies begin GLIAC play at Davenport on Sept. 11 and Saginaw Valley State on Sept. 12.
• Tech hosts Ferris State (Sept. 18) and Davenport (Sept. 19) on alumni weekend in the conference home opener.

HALL OF FAMER
• Sara (Nash) Hurley will be inducted into the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame in October.
• She was a middle blocker for the volleyball Huskies from 1991-94.
• Tech went 81-53 over her four seasons and 57-10 over the final two seasons, twice going to the NCAA Tournament as regional finalists and winning the GLIAC Regular Season and GLIAC Tournament in 1994.
• Nash received AVCA All-Region and All-GLIAC Second Team honors in 1994.
• She ranks fourth in career blocks (398) and fifth in career blocks per game (0.97).
 
COACH PINDRAL
• Cindy Pindral begins her second season as Head Coach after being named to the position on December 2, 2024.
• Pindral returned to the Huskies after being an Assistant Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Volunteer Coach with the Huskies for seven seasons from 2016 to 2022.
• During her seven years with the Huskies, the team held a 139-62 overall record. Tech went to four straight NCAA Tournaments from 2017-21 and won a pair of regular-season GLIAC championships in the spring of 2021 and then repeated in the fall of 2021.
• As a freshman student-athlete at the University of Florida, Pindral was the starting setter for the Gators who went to the NCAA Sweet 16, won an SEC Championship, and were ranked as high as No. 10.
• She finished her collegiate career as a three-time starter at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She was an Academic All-American and All-RMAC selection.
 
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
• The Huskies return 10 student-athletes from 2025, with four who earned All-GLIAC honors.
• The Black and Gold welcome seven newcomers, with six freshmen and a transfer.
